Keeping You Informed
As we await official word from the Department of Financial Services, we received notification today from CareConnect outlining their market exit strategy. We are expecting a formal broker blast from CareConnect later today, and communications to groups, employees, and individuals will start to go out early next week.
Yesterday, DFS approved the following strategy:
We are working with our carrier partners to mitigate any disruption to your employer groups. Yesterday, Oxford released the attached CareConnect mapping strategy to help. We have also attached the network slicks that were released earlier this week.
Please reach out to us with any additional questions. As we get more updates and strategic plans from our other carrier partners, we will share that information with you.

After a lot of back and forth, CareConnect has announced that they will no longer be accepting or renewing business past 11/1/2017. During the transition, CareConnect will continue to pay claims and serve its members. If you renewed already this year, the plan will be terminated upon renewal in 2018.
The Washwick Agency & PBBA Team are here to ensure that you understand your options, and transition effortlessly from your current plan to another without any interruption in benefits. If you are currently a client of ours, you have nothing to worry about! A member of our team will be in touch with you soon, to reevaluate your needs and discuss comparable plans. If you are insured through CareConnect but are not yet our client, give us a call and mention this blog post for a discounted consultation and processing into new coverage. "You may have heard that Northwell Health, our parent company, has made the decision to wind down CareConnect and withdraw from New York State’s insurance market. This was a very tough call to make, because Northwell strongly believes that innovative, provider-owned health insurance companies like CareConnect can help improve health care quality and hold down costs for consumers and businesses. We’re proud of our record of giving New Yorkers affordable access to excellent care and of the way we partnered with our doctors to keep our members healthier.
But given the decision to wind down CareConnect, there are a couple of things I want you to know. First, this process is going to take time—nothing is going to happen to your coverage tomorrow, next week or next month. In fact, your health plan will not be affected this year and any policies that are written for 2018 will also remain in effect. Most important, we will be here for you throughout the transition process. We will help you connect with your doctors and pay your claims. To put it simply, it is business as usual here for our members and providers. Once New York’s Department of Financial Services approves a withdrawal plan, we will share more details and send letters to all members stating the date that we will stop issuing new policies. In the meantime, if you have any questions please get in touch—either by calling us at 855-706-7545, emailing us at questions@careconnect.com, or visiting us at our Customer Care Center in East Hills, NY. As has been true ever since we launched almost four years ago, we want to help. Corrie Quaranto Vice President, Customer Experience CareConnect Insurance Company, Inc." |
